My Little Keyboard uses an intentionally simplified layout. It may not include every key, shortcut, function, or control found on a full-size adult keyboard.

My First Mouse intentionally removes the separate right-click button and scroll wheel that can confuse beginning users. Pages can still be scrolled using on-screen controls, a touchscreen, keyboard controls, or another method supported by the device and application.

Mouse and Keyboard Bundle

The bundle includes one My Little Keyboard and one My First Mouse.

Because both products are wired, the connected device normally needs two available USB ports—one for the keyboard and one for the mouse.

A compatible USB hub may be used when the computer or tablet does not have two available ports. Hub compatibility and power requirements vary, so operation through every hub cannot be guaranteed.

USB-A and USB-C Connections

USB-A is the traditional rectangular USB connector found on many desktop computers, laptops, and Chromebooks.

USB-C is the smaller reversible connector found on many newer computers, tablets, and phones.

Use the connector that matches the device. Do not attempt to connect both connector options from the same product at the same time.

Never force a connector into a port. If it does not fit easily, confirm that you are using the correct connector and orientation.

Computer Compatibility

The keyboard and mouse are designed for standard external USB input support on:

  • Windows computers
  • Apple Mac computers
  • Chromebooks and ChromeOS devices

No special driver, software download, account, or subscription is normally required.

Certain functions may behave differently depending on the operating system or application. A simplified learning keyboard is not intended to duplicate every function of a full-size Windows, Mac, or Chromebook keyboard.

Tablet and Phone Compatibility

Many tablets and phones can accept an external wired keyboard or mouse, but support varies significantly.

Before purchasing for a mobile device, confirm that:

  1. The device has a compatible USB-A or USB-C connection, or a suitable adapter.
  2. The device supports USB host or OTG operation when required.
  3. The operating system permits an external keyboard or mouse.
  4. The application being used accepts keyboard or mouse input.
  5. The device can provide sufficient power to the accessory.

An adapter or powered hub may be required and is not included unless expressly stated on the product page.

Connecting successfully to a tablet or phone does not guarantee that every application will recognize every input.

Application and Educational-Software Compatibility

Most programs that accept standard keyboard typing or primary mouse clicks should work with these products.

However, some applications may:

  • Be designed only for touchscreens
  • Require right-clicking
  • Require a scroll wheel
  • Require function keys or shortcuts not included on the simplified keyboard
  • Block external accessories
  • Interpret keys or clicks differently

Check the application’s requirements if it depends on specialized mouse buttons, keyboard shortcuts, or game controls.

Setup Instructions

  1. Turn on and unlock the computer or compatible device.
  2. Locate an available USB-A or USB-C port.
  3. Connect the appropriate keyboard or mouse connector.
  4. Wait a few seconds while the device recognizes the accessory.
  5. Open a compatible application or learning activity.
  6. Test the keyboard by typing into a text field or test the mouse by moving the pointer and clicking an item.

Most systems recognize the products automatically.

Troubleshooting

The keyboard or mouse is not responding

  • Disconnect it and reconnect it securely.
  • Try another USB port.
  • Restart the computer or device.
  • Confirm that the port works with another accessory.
  • Remove an unpowered hub or adapter and connect directly when possible.
  • Confirm that the tablet or phone supports external USB accessories.
  • Ask the school’s technology administrator whether external accessories are restricted.

The accessory works in one application but not another

The second application may not support external keyboard or mouse input. Review the application’s settings or contact its developer.

The mouse pointer moves but will not scroll

My First Mouse does not include a scroll wheel. Use the page’s on-screen scroll bar, touchscreen controls, keyboard controls, or another scrolling method supported by the device.

Right-click options do not appear

My First Mouse intentionally does not include a separate right-click button. It is designed for simple pointing and primary clicking.

The product disconnects when using a hub

The hub may not provide sufficient power or may not fully support external input devices. Try connecting directly to the computer or use a compatible powered hub.

Cleaning and Care

Before cleaning, disconnect the keyboard or mouse from the device.

Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth that is dry or slightly damp. Do not immerse the product, spray liquid directly onto it, or allow moisture to enter the openings.

Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners, strong solvents, or excessive liquid unless a specific cleaning method is expressly approved in the product instructions.

Allow the product to dry completely before reconnecting it.

Adult Assistance

Adult assistance is recommended for initial setup, connection, cleaning, and troubleshooting.

Keep cords arranged so they do not create a tripping, pulling, or entanglement hazard.
